Technical Integration Overview

📝 This is a reference translation. In case of any discrepancy, the Japanese version prevails.

Technical integration with Game8 Store (hereinafter "G8S") begins with an assessment of the publisher's current setup, after which we propose the most suitable integration approach. There are two integration approaches: reusing your existing APIs, or implementing new APIs based on the G8S specification.

1. Two Integration Patterns

If you share your existing API specification, G8S will assess compatibility and determine which pattern applies (sharing the spec is optional).

Pattern A: Reuse an Existing API (if external payments are already in place)

If you have already implemented an external payment API for your own store or a similar service, you may be able to reuse that existing API. In this case, additional development on the publisher's side can be kept to a minimum. Whether the API can be reused and whether any adjustments are needed is determined through a G8S compatibility assessment.

Pattern B: New Implementation to the G8S Spec

If you have no existing API, or it cannot be reused, you implement to the G8S spec. The scope is three required endpoints (checkregisteruser_info) and one recommended endpoint (stock). Credentials (access token and secret key) are issued by G8S.

For a typical server configuration, the total effort is roughly 4 to 10 person-days as a guideline. This varies depending on the configuration of your existing systems (reference value).

2. Scope of Work for Publishers

Creating product pages, registering products, connectivity testing, and pre-launch checks are handled by G8S in either approach. The publisher's work differs by approach: for Pattern A, sharing information about your existing APIs; for Pattern B, implementing the required APIs.

3. Development Support from Game8

To reduce the implementation burden, Game8 provides the following development support.

3.1. Web Tool for API Testing

  • From "API Testing" in the admin dashboard, you can send actual requests to the APIs you have implemented and check the responses on the spot.
  • It supports both the test and production environments, so you can use the same tool from the early stages of implementation through verification after full implementation.
  • Along with the dashboard, Game8 sets it up and provides it when integration begins.

3.2. Hands-On Support

  • Game8's assigned engineers work with you to verify connectivity for each API.
  • Questions during implementation can be raised anytime via the communication tools you normally use (Slack, WeChat, etc.).

3.3. Testing Support

  • Purchase testing and debugging, as well as pre-launch purchase testing in the production environment, are conducted jointly with Game8.
  • Game8 also helps organize test perspectives and proposes test cases.

3.4. Payment Testing on Your Behalf

  • Game8 performs real payment tests in the production environment on your behalf, using Game8's own credit card, online ID payment, and carrier billing accounts (transactions are canceled after testing).
  • Because most credit cards and online ID payment services do not provide a test payment mechanism, pre-launch verification requires real payments in the production environment. This verification can be completed without the publisher preparing any payment methods.
  • For the test environment, test credit card numbers are available, so both the publisher and Game8 can run tests freely at any time.
